Hey! My name’s Jess. I am so effing excited that you’re here! You’re the reason I started this whole thing, after all.
I'm originally born in Bury St. Edmonds, England. My step-father was in the Air Force for over 20 years and as you could imagine, that placed me all over the map throughout my childhood. I gained experiences that would shape my life forever.
In 2012, I became a mother for the first time. Being a mom at such a young age scared me to death. I had no idea what I was doing. My resiliency is the reason I am here now- stronger than ever and paving the way for my children with everyday that passes. I was so worried that motherhood would be the only thing that would ever define me. I was scared I wouldn't ever find my place in this world. But I have never been so wrong in my life. My motherhood was the very path to finding my place and my purpose.
You see, my purpose on this planet is to tell stories. You’re probably asking yourself “what kind?” Well, I am here to tell all of them. The one where you elope. The one where you have a baby. The one where you haven’t seen them in 8 months and it’s time to welcome them home. This is where I come in. I am the one behind the scenes capturing it all for you to reminisce later. And trust me, you will. I speak from experience.
My business was born from a Mother who just wanted to take “really good pictures of my kids” instead of constantly filling up my phone storage every couple of months before it would inevitably crash. After well over 5 years of considering purchasing a DSLR, I finally took the plunge. I realized — and very quickly — I never saw the Mom in the photo. And so began, Jess Jahns Photography.
It wasn't always JJP, though. I had to go through some growing pains and be completely reborn before I knew what JJP was. After years of being a mother and having that weaponized on a regular basis, I knew I was being called to create something better. Something bigger — a community for women to come together and feel supported and loved, regardless of the stage of life they find themselves in right now. This space has been created, just for you.
As a child, I always wondered what I would be. Who I’d become. I never knew it then, but I was a blank canvas waiting to be painted. By my parents. Life experiences. School. Work. And eventually, my very own children would make their unmistakeable mark on my canvas. They rest on my very core. Seeing them grounds me. I’m reminded of exactly who I am and who I have become. I am a vessel for those with a canvas of their own that has an art that cannot be recreated. It cannot be duplicated. Nor can it be replaced. As a visionary, this made me realize my purpose, and that is to immortalize your most life-changing moments.
When I meshed these two realizations together, I had quite the epiphany. I am exactly where I am supposed to be in this life, which is right here with you to tell your story.
And I am ready.
