The sunset was to die for the moment we started to set up. It was incredible from every angle and I already knew we were in for something special.
Marilyn turned a blank field into a graceful picnic spot. It was with each swift movement that I got to watch it come to life before me. Once she set out the snacks, Teagan was so ready to play & experiment. And that is exactly what he did. Marilyn had every single detail so perfectly laid out. Small salt + pepper shakers that now held cinnamon and powdered sugar. Utensils for the grown ups and finger foods for the little guy. The colors intertwined so perfectly you’d be able to trace every object into the next.
With these details, Teagan got to play, explore, experiment, and expand. The powdered sugar went into his strawberries + his hair. For science. The cinnamon went into his blueberries. And then it went on his cake. Soon enough, the blanket had cinnamon sprinkles laid out across it so perfectly, you’d think it was planned that way.
Between picnicking + experiments, Marilyn wanted to hold her sweet babe. And rightfully so, just look at that face! They spun, they giggled, they talked. Watching every spilt second unfold between them felt cinematic & I got to capture every single one. As Teagan made his way back to the picnic, he played some more and giggled some more. And it was as marvelous as you could imagine.
Nearing the end of the session, we wanted to snap some photos of Dad + Teagan. As you all know, on top of dad’s shoulder is the best place to be! You can see everything you never thought you could. You can grasp strands of dad’s hair and peak inside of his nose. For science.
Before it was time to go, we wrapped up with family photos of this masterpiece of a trio together. We unraveled the perfect picnic together talking about similarities in our motherhood journeys before parting ways for the evening.
It was absolutely flawless + enchanting.
